Cetapon Junior Uses

Cetapon Junior is a pediatric medication containing paracetamol (acetaminophen) as its active ingredient, commonly formulated as an oral syrup (120 mg/5 ml) for children[5]. It is used primarily for the relief of mild to moderate pain—including headaches, toothaches, muscle aches, and other types of pain—and for reducing fever in children with infectious or inflammatory diseases[1].

The medication acts as an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (reduces fever), with only a weak anti-inflammatory effect. Its mechanism involves the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and action predominantly in the brain, which helps lower elevated body temperature and alleviate pain[1][4].

General recommended pediatric dosing:

  • Children aged 1–5 years: 120–250 mg per single dose
  • Children aged 3 months to 1 year: 60–120 mg per single dose
  • Infants under 3 months: 10 mg/kg per single dose
  • Doses may be given up to four times a day, at intervals of no less than four hours, with the maximum duration of treatment up to three days unless advised by a healthcare provider

Always use the dosing device provided to ensure accurate measurement. Treatment should not exceed recommended doses or duration to avoid the risk of liver damage[1][3].

Cetapon Junior is indicated for use in:

  • Relief of headaches, toothaches, earaches, and post-immunization fever
  • Management of mild to moderate fever due to infections
  • Alleviation of minor aches and pains associated with cold or flu

If fever persists longer than three days, or pain lasts more than five days, seek medical attention promptly[3]. Excess use or overdose of paracetamol can cause serious liver injury—symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, unusual tiredness, or jaundice[1].
