Ponac Suspension Uses

Ponac Suspension is primarily indicated for the treatment of post-traumatic conditions such as pain, swelling, and inflammation, and is intended for short-term use, typically for a maximum period of five days[1]. It contains mefenamic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic (pain-relieving) and anti-inflammatory effects[2].

Additional uses include:

  • Relief of mild to moderate pain, which may include pain due to injury, dental procedures, or other acute causes[3].
  • Treatment of primary dysmenorrhoea (painful menstrual cramps)[3].
  • Symptomatic relief of rheumatoid arthritis (including Still’s Disease), osteoarthritis, muscular and traumatic pain, and headaches of various causes[4].
  • Management of fever (pyrexia) in children[5].

Administration of Ponac Suspension is usually for short-term management to minimize the risk of adverse effects commonly associated with NSAIDs, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, kidney issues, and cardiovascular risks[7]. Patients are advised to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms[4].
