Clomaderm Clotrimazole Cream Uses

Clomaderm cream contains clotrimazole, an antifungal medicine used to treat a variety of skin infections caused by fungi and yeast[1][2]. The main uses of clotrimazole cream include:

  • Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis): A fungal infection of the feet, often causing itchy, cracked, or peeling skin between the toes[1][2][4].
  • Jock itch (tinea cruris): A fungal infection that causes a red, itchy rash in the groin area[2][5].
  • Ringworm (tinea corporis): A circular, red rash with clear skin in the middle, typically found on various parts of the body[1][2][3].
  • Fungal nail infections: Infections that result in brittle, thickened, or discolored nails[1][4].
  • Fungal nappy rash: Red, sore patches on a baby’s bottom caused by a yeast infection[1][3][5].
  • Rash in folds of skin (intertrigo or sweat rash): Redness and irritation occurring in warm, moist areas where skin rubs together[1][3][4].
  • Thrush (candida infections): Includes irritation of the vulva (external vaginal area) or the end of the penis, commonly associated with yeast infections[1][3].

Clotrimazole cream is for external use only and should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected area two or three times daily, depending on the specific infection[3][4]. Most infections begin to improve after about 7 days of treatment, but it’s important to continue using the cream for at least 2 weeks (for thrush) or up to 4 weeks for other infections, as stopping too soon can allow the infection to return[4][6]. The most common side effect is mild skin irritation at the application site[2][4].
