Epizone Cream Uses

Epizone cream and ointment products are primarily used for the management of dry skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, and related irritations.[2]

Common uses include:

  • Treatment of very dry skin conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis. Epizone E and A are often recommended to help lock in moisture and soothe irritation.[2][3]
  • Relief for chronic eczema, plaque psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis (for the Coal Tar variant, Epizone LPC). This version serves as an anti-inflammatory, anti-itch, and keratolytic agent.[1]
  • Soap substitute—Epizone E ointment is fragrance free and safe for use as a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin, including for babies.[2][5]
  • Barrier cream—Epizone A can be used to protect the skin for people frequently exposed to chemicals and water, and can also be used to dilute topical steroids and cortisones under medical supervision.[3][4]
  • Post-sun exposure care and moisturising—users report using Epizone after sunburn or exposure to prevent dryness and irritation.[2]
  • General daily moisturiser—Epizone products are suitable for all skin types, including babies, children, and adults.[3][6][8]

Directions for use:

  • Apply as a moisturiser directly to affected skin areas, usually 1–2 times daily or as required.[1][5]
  • As a soap substitute, lather a small amount with warm water and cleanse as needed.[2][5]
  • Coal tar-containing Epizone LPC should not be applied to open wounds or infected skin, and sun exposure should be avoided post-application because of increased photosensitivity.[1]

Precautions:

  • Coal tar creams (Epizone LPC) may stain clothing and have a medicinal odor.[1]
  • Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or in young children.[1]
  • All Epizone products are fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and generally safe for sensitive skin.[2][5]
