Sinutab tablets are used to temporarily relieve symptoms of the common cold, flu, sinusitis, and various allergies, primarily targeting sinus and nasal congestion, as well as associated headache, pain, aches, sore throat, body ache, and fever[1][3][4][5].
Sinutab contains two main active ingredients:
- Paracetamol (500 mg per tablet): an analgesic (pain relief) and antipyretic (fever reducer)
- Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (30 mg per tablet): a decongestant to clear nasal passages and blocked sinuses
Some variations contain additional ingredients such as chlorphenamine maleate (an antihistamine) and codeine phosphate (a mild opioid analgesic), but most commonly available Sinutab Non-Drowsy tablets do not include these[2][8].
Typical uses of Sinutab tablets include:
- Relieving nasal and sinus congestion from allergies, hayfever, colds, flu, and sinus infections
- Reducing headache, fever, soreness, and body aches associated with these conditions
- Providing a non-drowsy formula for daytime use
Dosing guidance for adults and children (over 12):
- Adults and children 16 years and over: Two tablets every four to six hours, up to four times a day. Maximum daily dose is eight tablets (4g paracetamol, 240mg pseudoephedrine)
- Children aged 12–15 years: One tablet every four to six hours, up to four times a day. Maximum daily dose is four tablets (2g paracetamol, 120mg pseudoephedrine)
- Children under 12: Sinutab is not recommended
Do not take Sinutab with other products containing paracetamol or pseudoephedrine. Always follow the package instructions and consult your pharmacist or doctor for safe use. These products do not cure or shorten the duration of illness, but help manage symptoms[3][4][5].
Precautions:
- Not suitable if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, severe kidney problems, or are taking certain other medications. Check with your doctor or pharmacist beforehand[7].
- Report serious side effects to your doctor.
